Extending life, and Pharmaceutical Profits! Only the rich can afford it!

Each time I sat down at the keyboard, the writing got crazier, and more… out there. David Alexander

LD123CoversLongue Duree 1, 2, and 3 are available now on Amazon.

Each book begins and ends, without cliffhangers, and contains adult situations that may offend conservative readers.

Louis Bautista is a wealthy, unknown, currency trader. He enjoys his privacy and his easy way of life. He travels, sails, and has relationships as they become available.

In book 1, Louis is avoiding a hurricane in St. Croix, and flies south to Barbados to wait for an available ticket back to his Condo in West Palm Beach, FL.

Longue Durée I

While there, he meets a redhead woman, Celia, who brings in a 48′ sailboat, by herself, after her husband dies at sea. She needs to get the boat back to Hilton Head, SC. Louis sees a beautiful wealthy redhead, with a fantasy sailboat, and accepts the captain position. It was a long slow voyage.

The hurricane had passed, so they stopped in St. Croix, for some time on land. While in St. Croix, they witnessed a murder in an alley. Before being shot, the man passed a package to Louis while they were hidden in a dark doorway. This package held the contents for the rest of this series. In two ampules were the ingredients for life everlasting, (Longue Durée), a compound that reversed aging and related medical conditions.

In book 2, the pharmaceutical empire that Louis and his partner Dr. Martin Burstein created had burnt to the ground and the Dr. was killed in the fire. Louis now lived on the sovereign island of Nevis, married to Celia’s little sister and model, Nicole.

Longue Durée II

Island life became too slow for Louis. Now considerably older, and remarried to Judy, they use Louis’s new identity as Louis Montgomery and create another pharmaceutical empire in Orlando, FL. They produce many derivatives from the original formula, but only Louis has the Longue Durée. Now the second wealthiest person on the planet, Louis marries the wealthiest man’s daughter. Blinded by his lust, he fails to see the evil manipulation that is being carried out.

In book 3, Louis’s values have changed. After his last wife tried to murder him, Louis Montgomery needed a change in his life.

Longue Duree III 3

Longue Durée III

With his self confidence shaken, he leaves the country, hires himself out as a captain on a sailing yacht, and eventually returns to his company in Orlando. With his secret age reversing drug keeping him young, he remained in his mid-thirties, for the last hundred years.

Louis had always been drawn to attractive women. Out of frustration, he went to a church, and met a conservative girl that fascinated him. He was in love, she was completely different, but after making his fortune in scientific research, he doubted their compatibility.

There were battles, conflicts, and separations, but Louis was now a father. His son was still born, and once again, scientific research prevailed, bringing his son back to life. The experimental process that saved him, had a far-reaching payback. Michael, by the age of seven, was working in the company lab, and by fifteen, had expanded his understanding of life, existence, and the composition of the universe beyond all scientists. There were no names for the things he was discovering.

Along with his genius status, Michael was still a teenager, with all of the insecurities, and attitudes. He wanted a car, a job with a paycheck, a girlfriend, and to be able to understand and control the universe.

Each book begins and ends, without cliffhangers, and contains adult situations that may offend conservative readers.

What would you pay to stay young? Longue Duree I, Extended Life, “The Source”

Louis and Celia spend some time ashore in Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI:
They are returning from an expensive restaurant.

We took a taxi back down the hill at about nine, and when we saw how lit up the downtown was, we decided to get out early, and walk back to the apartment. We stayed on the covered sidewalks in the populated areas, and I kept noticing the dark alleys that separated the buildings. I noticed one alley that went along an old Danish building that had the doorways all recessed about five feet into the sides. There were wrought iron gates, custom made to fit each opening, and giant elephant ear vines growing all over the sides of the stone and across the wrought iron.
“Celia, come with me.” I took her hand.
“What are you doing?” She reluctantly followed.
I led her down the dark alley, checking each gate as I went. All were locked, until we reached the third one on the left side. I opened it a little.
“Step inside.” I raised a vine over our heads.

I pushed the gate shut, and we had about four feet of privacy, to a solid wood door. It proudly exhibited a hundred years of peeling paint with a pile of fragments lying along the threshold. I pushed Celia against the stone, and pushed my body against hers. She gasped and looked into my eyes. I kissed her passionately, as we silently listened to the voices of people still going down the illuminated sidewalk. We had to be quiet. I put a hand on each of her legs and slowly raised her dress above her hips. She was apparently prepared for my imagination. There were no stockings or panties. I dropped to my knees and widened her legs. She put her hands on my head, leaned hers back against the cool stone, and closed her eyes.
“Oh! Oh!”
“SSShhhhhhhh!” I resumed my exercise of self-control.
She pulled me back up and unfastened my belt. She was becoming impatient.
We heard footsteps running toward us. Louder… LOUDER! Until a black man in dress clothes stopped in the middle of the alley, six feet from us. He spotted us as he stood frozen, with no place to run.
“’ERE!” He pushed a small package about the size of a large book, through the gate. It fell on the ground, as I pressed my body against Celia for her protection. He started to run back toward the street when… POP… POP…. POP… BOOM… BOOM… BOOM! The gunshots echoed through the alley. We heard several men running toward the man. I peeked through the vines as they went through his clothes looking for something.
“NOTHING! IT’S NOT HERE!”
They left as fast as they appeared, and I just barely caught a glimpse of a black van with dark tinted windows rapidly leaving.
I picked up the package and zipped up my pants. Celia was hanging on to me and I could feel her shaking.
“Come… quickly!” I whispered.
We started to run out of the alley. We both froze in our tracks when we saw the man’s body.
“I didn’t know the human body held that much blood.” I checked him… just in case.
“Look!” I held up the lanyard around his neck that displayed his photo from West Indies Research in Teague Bay.
“He’s dead. Let’s get out of here!”

We ran to the end of the alley and looked up and down the street. It seemed clear, so we crossed into the shadows to the other side. Celia’s heels clicked across the blacktop. We were both watching every moving vehicle, afraid that the van may return. We rushed up the hill to the restaurant and up the stairway to our apartment. It felt safe, and I locked the deadbolt on the door. We went to the balcony and slid the glass door open. I walked out and leaned on the railing looking back down the hill at the buildings we had just left. Celia hugged me from behind, as she leaned her head against my back and let the fresh wind clear her mind.
“I was so scared. I’ve never seen anything like that!” she said.
“Hey! The package!” I remembered.

Reality.

I have ate in the restaurant they just left, looked across the table to see my sailboat in Christiansted harbor, walked the streets at 9:00, and there is an alley with recessed doorways and rusty iron gates. I was just in St. Croix last month, and couldn’t find it?

The murder was actually on St. Thomas. Some men making a drug deal, thought that a tourist saw them, and shot and killed him to be sure. His tourist friend, told police that he had no idea why they shot him. They hadn’t seen anything.

I have grown up around wealthy people. That has enabled me to work for, and with them as I shaped my own life. At twenty-two years old, I helped build condos in St. Croix and managed the condo-accounts of 47 millionaires. They landed in their private jets, and I picked them up at customs. In my (Longue Duree series), you will find yourself saying, “Nooooo! No one would do that.” But I was there. Wait until I release “Insomniacs” It’s a crazy world.

Longue Durée I, on Amazon

In Longue Duree 1, I have had readers question the period of time between Celia’s husband’s death, and the time she makes love with Louis.

(My 2 part answer)

First, when two people are alone on a sailboat for months, or even weeks, there is a bond that forms. You depend on each other to stay alive. When you are in the middle of an ocean, with nothing to do but stay on course, and read a book, your mind strays in the having sex direction. (I am an experienced sailor)

Second, and this is not in the book. Celia was very smart and manipulative. Later in the book, when Louis met Celia’s sisters, this was made clear to him. The possibility exists that when Celia found out that her husband was spending time with his secretary in Switzerland, that she planned an exit strategy that included his death, and  horny Louis, fell victim to a beautiful redhead with a custom built sailboat. (It works!)

“I’m the human. You’re the dog!” Therapy on my keyboard. When a writer loses his dog.

Now, she lays on the examination table with an IV in her leg. We petted her and talked to her as she closed her eyes and relaxed for the last time.

When a writer loses his dog.
What has brought on this flood of emotions, is the condition of my Pomeranian companion of 15 years. We bought her as a puppy when my construction company went under. I had to file bankruptcy, and moved what I could salvage to Florida. The emotional and financial damage from the Chapter 13 was extremely damaging to my confidence and self-esteem, but Koko helped. She hated sailing, and always wanted to get back to the air-conditioned home, and her fenced in back yard. She slept on my bed, shared my food, and was on my heels at all times. If I worked on a car, or in the garage, I don’t have to worry about her running off. She would always be in the shade of a magnolia tree, or in the grass by the big fern.
A few days ago, we took her to the vet for her shots. Koko has always been overweight, mostly my fault, and recently has lost a lot of weight, and feels like skin and bones. The vet did tests and they came back as terminal kidney disease. She has a year on the long end, now has special dog food, and gets an electrolyte IV. It makes her feel great, and she gets them once a month, at $12.00 a visit. I try not to think about this too much. I have never had kids, and my two Poms, are my kids.

Zenzi, (wolf-sable Pomeranian) is 1-1/2 years old and 8 lbs. She has always had Koko and is sad when they are apart, so I am considering a third Pom.
The Alexander family is up north. I live in East Coast Florida. I am flying up next week to see them. My parents are 84 years old, and it’s been a long time since we have conversed further than Facebook. My wife’s mother died a few years ago and her father is in assisted living, in a private home. It’s cold up there. The news said 17 deg and snow. I keep thinking about Jamaica, but I need to go up north.

(I typed this much, before I went up-north for Thanksgiving. I am now back in Florida.)

***

In many ways I wish I had opted for the Jamaican vacation. I bought a coat and some long sleeve shirts before I left, and a few more after arriving. Most, but not all, of the Alexander family, is surviving in the same repetitive life-style they were living fifteen years ago, with one of my sisters floundering, with help and failure so many times, that everyone has now severed their connections. Others have excelled, grown up, and created a great life. My emotions were up and down every few hours, but in general, I tried to keep my opinions to myself. The one common trait that I witnessed after being in other parts of the world so long, is that they seem to acquire gratification from criticizing and speculating on other people, unable to see themselves from outside of their colloquial mold. If I could buy each one a gift, it would be an unlimited airline ticket, with six-month layovers in the countries of their choice. It changes you.

IMG_1020
Upon returning, Koko was looking worse. She was not eating, not drinking, her legs shook when she stood, and diarrhea and vomiting took whatever moisture remained in her fragile body. It was cold for Florida, 55-60 deg at night. Koko would go out, try to poop, get liquid, and then her legs would give out. She would lie in the back yard, in her feces, until I went out looking for her, and brought her back in the house. I blocked her doggy door and spread out a towel on the floor where she likes to sleep.
Zenzi brought her favorite toys to Koko, and laid them down beside her, and backed up to give Koko an advantage to play. After moving all of her favorite toys and getting no response from Koko, she laid on top of her toys and slept beside her.
Saturday morning, I called the Veterinarian. It’s time. Koko seemed to know what we were doing, and welcomed it. Before, she looked at me, to make it better. I could only lie in the floor with her and gently pet her. My voice seemed to soothe her and she would sleep. Now, she lays on the examination table with an IV in her leg. We petted her and talked to her as she closed her eyes and relaxed for the last time.
“I’m the human! You’re the dog!” This is often heard in my house when I think the fur-babies are taking control. Right now, I would gladly give up my authority. Zenzi is confused. She keeps looking for Koko. She comes in my office, sits by my feet, and looks up at me with tears in her eyes. “How can I explain this to her?”

She lays, all of the time, in the living room where Koko slept. Her toys are still accumulated there, and she sleeps on top of her biggest one. They used to chase each other around the coffee table, but now she barks at me until I follow her into the living room and run around the coffee table with her. (Yes, I do it.) Poms need partners. I am looking for a female puppy for her. This is a bad time of year for puppy buying with Christmas coming. She may be doing a solo-show until 2020. Affordable POM puppy? Email me! In book II of Longue Duree, Extending Life, Louis had a Pomeranian named Koko. He too, went through the above scenario, but his Koko died of bladder cancer. I’ve noticed that many things I write often come true before the book is live. Louis also became a very wealthy man… “I’m waiting!”

We are born, imperfect humans. Louis was no exception, and while persueing the company of of a wealthy, widow in Barbados, is handed the ingredients for eternal life. Longue Durée, can not only reverse your mind and body to a younger age, but also cures many issues like Osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s.

There is only one catch! It’s expensive.

How would the world respond to such a mericle drug? What would they pay to have all of their pain and imperfections removed? Sounds good, but… what about social security and pension plans. If people don’t die from age, cancer, or a heart attack, the pharmaceutical and medical empires would go bankrupt. The wealthy will still want Longue Durée, but surely it cannot be available to, everyone?

Nevis, St. Kitts, Reverse aging, extended life, and a safe haven. Author David Alexander

What would you pay to reverse aging and achieve perfect health? Louis hid the secret on Nevis Island.

Real life research for book one.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, was quiet first thing in the morning. It was humid, 85 deg. and we stopped at an open air bar for a cold soda. The shops displayed all of the same tourist products that you see all through the Caribbean, and at 10am we were still walking with empty hands.

A few minutes later, the gates were opened for the cruise ships and the cattle hit the grazing grounds. We waddled through the lines of the shops and heard similar sales pitches in each one.

I am a sailor, with my own boat. I usually avoid tourist areas and drop my anchor away from the cruise ships.

Here, the economy survives on tourism. Four Seasons Resort employs 10,000 of the Kittitians. I like to find the islands that have not been corrupted by the desire for wealth. I’ve lived on other islands only to watch cable TV, and tourism, turn a peaceful society into roving gangs and drug dealers. It is still years out for St. Kitts, but they are on that path. The outside force… and big dollar investors, are already here.

When I lived in St. Croix, I usually had my breakfast on the boardwalk in Christiansted. It was an open air restaurant and I poured some water into a bowl, dissolved a few packets of sugar in it, and the banana birds came from all directions. One time, I had eight birds fluttering around the sugar water. This piece reminded me of that. In the picture, it is on my coffee table in Florida with the left-over EC coins in it.

The main purpose of this vacation was to get a break from the fifty-six hour weeks I’m working now. I build cabinetry for 70′ yacht interiors. Each night when I return to my home, I add about 4 hrs a night for my writing, and advertising. (Such as this).

The strangest thing about this vacation was that Nevis / St. Kitts, were the safe havens for the main character in my next three books. As Louis refined a chemical that embellished and extended his life, he became prosecuted by the elite wealthy, politicians, and pharmaceutical companies. He became wealthy and the demand exceeded the supply. Through his prolonged life, and several wives, he escaped to a home in Nevis, in all three books. Nevis is a sovereign country and a safe haven for wealth. I had never been there and had done all my research on the internet.

In my books, Louis played chess with an old island man in the square by the police station. The old man, named Charles, had never been beat. I went up to a security guard at a bank and described my fictional park. He pointed up the road and told me where to find the police station, and the little park. I told him about the book. He said there was a man that played chess and checkers there, and is never beat… but his name is not Charles.

It was so strange to be walking through the pages of my books. They are all three finished. Longue Duree I, Extended Life, is on Amazon now. Book II is back from the editor, and I am making suggested changes. Book III is with the editor now. “She has been very quiet.”
