Celia Judel brought in a 46′ sailboat to Barbados, alone, after her husband died of a heart attack at sea. Everyone, including Louis, pitied her and praised her for her survival skills. Louis even volunteered to help her sail her yacht back to Hilton head. They anchored in a small island on the way where she scattered Donald’s ashes. “I think Donald would have liked it here.”

Read Longue Durée Now!

Donald, a prominent yacht designer, had been staying in Switzerland with his secretary, returning to Celia when he had time. This voyage, was Celia’s attempt to work things out.

Is she really a grieving widow, or a clever strategist that played Louis and Donald to her advantage.

(This is not, in the book.)

Louis Montgomery loved his supercharged Jaguar. He’s having second thoughts about his son.

I have been on island now for six or eight weeks, and still can’t get Sandra off my mind. I decided to go back and try to apologize for my lust. I don’t think I have ever done that before.

Louis is a father now in book 3. His son was born dead. Once again an experimental product brought Michael to life, with long range consequences. He was a genius and a problem teenager.

(Martin calls Louis in Nevis.)

“Louis, take the phone walk outside.”

“Okay, I’m alone, now. What’s up?”
“Michael was in a car wreck last night.”
“Is he okay?”
“Yes, but he had a girl with him.”
“The blond that delivers your supplies?”
“Yes, he told you about her?”
“Yes, so, how are they?”
“It was a bad wreck. The news channel said it was scattered over a quarter mile of I-95.”
“Martin! Is Michael all right?”
“Yes. Michael had a few broken bones, and a cut on his forehead, but I talked to him after the surgery and he is completely operational. The bionites saved him. Without them, he may have died.”
“What about the girl?”
“She’s in a coma. Evidently, from what Michael confided in me, she had just given him a blow job across the console of the Jaguar. She has a broken neck, a broken arm, and a fractured hip.”
“You mean the Mini Cooper?”
“No, he was driving your Jag.” (I went silent.) “Louis… Louis… the Jag was totaled.”
“Were there any other cars involved?”
“No, fortunately it was late. Michael said he thinks she accidently pushed the shifter into a lower gear while the car was in excess of 150 mph. It skidded, went sideways, and flipped over and over, until it slid on the roof against a concrete barrier wall near Melbourne. They are lucky to be alive.”
“Make a few phone calls and see if we can buy this police report. Find out if his girlfriend has family, and what we must do to make it all go away. Get her the best medical care we can buy. My insurance on the Jag will cover a lot of it, but I would guess that it will go beyond that, when they run my financials.”
“Louis, we have another problem.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“They had them in the emergency ward before they called me. They have a blood test on Michael…”
“… and the fuck’n bionites will show up in the blood tests. SHIT!”
“Not necessarily, it depends on which tests they are running. The main thing they were looking for was drugs and alcohol. If they stop there, we will be okay.”

Celia brought in a 46′ sailboat single handed to Barbados. Her marine architect husband died of a heart attack at sea.

Louis, had been vacationing in St. Croix. With a hurricane approaching, and no vacant airline seats available, he exchanged his ticket to Florida, for a night in Barbados, and a redirected flight back to the U. S. Surprise! The flights out of Barbados were also canceled the next day.

Celia needed her yacht sailed back to Hilton head, and Louis needed to get back to West Palm Beach. They decided to join resources and spend the next few months sailing home. When two people spend time on the ocean, you have to rely on each other for your life. You tell your secrets on night-watch, with a glass of wine. Eventually… after a knock-down squall, you turn on the auto-pilot, go below deck to pull off the cold, wet, clothes, and two warm bodies find comfort in the master cabin.

WARNING!       All 3 books of the Longue Durée series contain some, adult content. Louis was a young FX trader from a wealthy family, a sailor, traveler, and had desires like any… real man. If this is offensive to you, please choose literature from the YA, young adult category. For the rest of us… fasten your seat belts!

They stopped and spent weeks in St. Croix. One night after a late supper, Louis pulled Celia into an old limestone alley with arched doorways and started seducing her. A man ran down the alley with a small package, stopped and looked at Louis and Celia, and threw them the package. He ran back to the street where three men emptied their guns into him. They decided this was a good time to continue their voyage.

The closer they got to the United States, the more their old personalities and Celia’s widow guilt, surfaced. Louis hoped that Celia would stay with him in West Palm Beach, but she now, with declining emotions, wanted him to take her home to Hilton Head.

He secured the yacht to her gated owner-dock, and spent the night at her home in Golden Crane Estates. She had him sleep in the guest bedroom, and had a airline ticket for him waiting in the morning.

“What about the package?” You ask.

It’s not that uncommon to live a long life now. Science has even made progress that can slow down the loss of your memory and mental functions, but with all of that, you still exist in a body that is fragile, susceptible, and limited. What if there was a product that could reverse your age to say 25 or 30? It is expensive to produce. What would you pay?

It’s in the package!

“I’m the human. You’re the dog!” Therapy on my keyboard. When a writer loses his dog.

Now, she lays on the examination table with an IV in her leg. We petted her and talked to her as she closed her eyes and relaxed for the last time.

When a writer loses his dog.
What has brought on this flood of emotions, is the condition of my Pomeranian companion of 15 years. We bought her as a puppy when my construction company went under. I had to file bankruptcy, and moved what I could salvage to Florida. The emotional and financial damage from the Chapter 13 was extremely damaging to my confidence and self-esteem, but Koko helped. She hated sailing, and always wanted to get back to the air-conditioned home, and her fenced in back yard. She slept on my bed, shared my food, and was on my heels at all times. If I worked on a car, or in the garage, I don’t have to worry about her running off. She would always be in the shade of a magnolia tree, or in the grass by the big fern.
A few days ago, we took her to the vet for her shots. Koko has always been overweight, mostly my fault, and recently has lost a lot of weight, and feels like skin and bones. The vet did tests and they came back as terminal kidney disease. She has a year on the long end, now has special dog food, and gets an electrolyte IV. It makes her feel great, and she gets them once a month, at $12.00 a visit. I try not to think about this too much. I have never had kids, and my two Poms, are my kids.

Zenzi, (wolf-sable Pomeranian) is 1-1/2 years old and 8 lbs. She has always had Koko and is sad when they are apart, so I am considering a third Pom.
The Alexander family is up north. I live in East Coast Florida. I am flying up next week to see them. My parents are 84 years old, and it’s been a long time since we have conversed further than Facebook. My wife’s mother died a few years ago and her father is in assisted living, in a private home. It’s cold up there. The news said 17 deg and snow. I keep thinking about Jamaica, but I need to go up north.

(I typed this much, before I went up-north for Thanksgiving. I am now back in Florida.)

***

In many ways I wish I had opted for the Jamaican vacation. I bought a coat and some long sleeve shirts before I left, and a few more after arriving. Most, but not all, of the Alexander family, is surviving in the same repetitive life-style they were living fifteen years ago, with one of my sisters floundering, with help and failure so many times, that everyone has now severed their connections. Others have excelled, grown up, and created a great life. My emotions were up and down every few hours, but in general, I tried to keep my opinions to myself. The one common trait that I witnessed after being in other parts of the world so long, is that they seem to acquire gratification from criticizing and speculating on other people, unable to see themselves from outside of their colloquial mold. If I could buy each one a gift, it would be an unlimited airline ticket, with six-month layovers in the countries of their choice. It changes you.

IMG_1020
Upon returning, Koko was looking worse. She was not eating, not drinking, her legs shook when she stood, and diarrhea and vomiting took whatever moisture remained in her fragile body. It was cold for Florida, 55-60 deg at night. Koko would go out, try to poop, get liquid, and then her legs would give out. She would lie in the back yard, in her feces, until I went out looking for her, and brought her back in the house. I blocked her doggy door and spread out a towel on the floor where she likes to sleep.
Zenzi brought her favorite toys to Koko, and laid them down beside her, and backed up to give Koko an advantage to play. After moving all of her favorite toys and getting no response from Koko, she laid on top of her toys and slept beside her.
Saturday morning, I called the Veterinarian. It’s time. Koko seemed to know what we were doing, and welcomed it. Before, she looked at me, to make it better. I could only lie in the floor with her and gently pet her. My voice seemed to soothe her and she would sleep. Now, she lays on the examination table with an IV in her leg. We petted her and talked to her as she closed her eyes and relaxed for the last time.
“I’m the human! You’re the dog!” This is often heard in my house when I think the fur-babies are taking control. Right now, I would gladly give up my authority. Zenzi is confused. She keeps looking for Koko. She comes in my office, sits by my feet, and looks up at me with tears in her eyes. “How can I explain this to her?”

She lays, all of the time, in the living room where Koko slept. Her toys are still accumulated there, and she sleeps on top of her biggest one. They used to chase each other around the coffee table, but now she barks at me until I follow her into the living room and run around the coffee table with her. (Yes, I do it.) Poms need partners. I am looking for a female puppy for her. This is a bad time of year for puppy buying with Christmas coming. She may be doing a solo-show until 2020. Affordable POM puppy? Email me! In book II of Longue Duree, Extending Life, Louis had a Pomeranian named Koko. He too, went through the above scenario, but his Koko died of bladder cancer. I’ve noticed that many things I write often come true before the book is live. Louis also became a very wealthy man… “I’m waiting!”

We are born, imperfect humans. Louis was no exception, and while persueing the company of of a wealthy, widow in Barbados, is handed the ingredients for eternal life. Longue Durée, can not only reverse your mind and body to a younger age, but also cures many issues like Osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s.

There is only one catch! It’s expensive.

How would the world respond to such a mericle drug? What would they pay to have all of their pain and imperfections removed? Sounds good, but… what about social security and pension plans. If people don’t die from age, cancer, or a heart attack, the pharmaceutical and medical empires would go bankrupt. The wealthy will still want Longue Durée, but surely it cannot be available to, everyone?

Nevis, St. Kitts, Reverse aging, extended life, and a safe haven. Author David Alexander

What would you pay to reverse aging and achieve perfect health? Louis hid the secret on Nevis Island.

Real life research for book one.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, was quiet first thing in the morning. It was humid, 85 deg. and we stopped at an open air bar for a cold soda. The shops displayed all of the same tourist products that you see all through the Caribbean, and at 10am we were still walking with empty hands.

A few minutes later, the gates were opened for the cruise ships and the cattle hit the grazing grounds. We waddled through the lines of the shops and heard similar sales pitches in each one.

I am a sailor, with my own boat. I usually avoid tourist areas and drop my anchor away from the cruise ships.

Here, the economy survives on tourism. Four Seasons Resort employs 10,000 of the Kittitians. I like to find the islands that have not been corrupted by the desire for wealth. I’ve lived on other islands only to watch cable TV, and tourism, turn a peaceful society into roving gangs and drug dealers. It is still years out for St. Kitts, but they are on that path. The outside force… and big dollar investors, are already here.

When I lived in St. Croix, I usually had my breakfast on the boardwalk in Christiansted. It was an open air restaurant and I poured some water into a bowl, dissolved a few packets of sugar in it, and the banana birds came from all directions. One time, I had eight birds fluttering around the sugar water. This piece reminded me of that. In the picture, it is on my coffee table in Florida with the left-over EC coins in it.

The main purpose of this vacation was to get a break from the fifty-six hour weeks I’m working now. I build cabinetry for 70′ yacht interiors. Each night when I return to my home, I add about 4 hrs a night for my writing, and advertising. (Such as this).

The strangest thing about this vacation was that Nevis / St. Kitts, were the safe havens for the main character in my next three books. As Louis refined a chemical that embellished and extended his life, he became prosecuted by the elite wealthy, politicians, and pharmaceutical companies. He became wealthy and the demand exceeded the supply. Through his prolonged life, and several wives, he escaped to a home in Nevis, in all three books. Nevis is a sovereign country and a safe haven for wealth. I had never been there and had done all my research on the internet.

In my books, Louis played chess with an old island man in the square by the police station. The old man, named Charles, had never been beat. I went up to a security guard at a bank and described my fictional park. He pointed up the road and told me where to find the police station, and the little park. I told him about the book. He said there was a man that played chess and checkers there, and is never beat… but his name is not Charles.

It was so strange to be walking through the pages of my books. They are all three finished. Longue Duree I, Extended Life, is on Amazon now. Book II is back from the editor, and I am making suggested changes. Book III is with the editor now. “She has been very quiet.”

Interior decorator, creative lover, from the new book, Longue Durée, Extended Life

She pushes me for every ounce of energy I have, and then finds a bit more. I think of her as a heart stress test, with a happy ending.

Sometimes, characters are real.

Pg 58

I had still not recovered from Lottie. She pushes me for every ounce of energy I have, and then finds a bit more. I think of her as a heart stress test, with a happy ending.

Pg 73

I pulled my shirt tail out in the elevator and walked across the hallway to my condo. When I went inside, everyone was sitting in the living room.

Bark! Bark! KoKo broke the silence, ran into the foyer, and jumped into my arms. The first person I saw was Judy, and her eye contact with me said a lot. I prepared for war, as I walked through the kitchen and into the living room. Celia was standing on the far side looking toward the bar in the kitchen. As I stepped into the room and looked back, I saw the problem.

“Lottie!” I froze in my tracks.
She had shown up dressed to seduce. It was obvious that she knew me well, as she wore black stockings, heels, and a short dress. If I know Lottie, there was nothing else. She smiled at me as she contained a laugh.
I looked at Celia, who sat waiting to see how it all played out.
Lottie stood and walked to me seductively. She put her hands on my hips and kissed me lightly.
“I should have called first. I’m sorry to have interrupted.” Her eyes got watery. She looked at Celia and shrewdly stared her up and down.
“It was good to meet you, Celia. I wish I had more time, but I have to go.” She turned and looked deep into my eyes. She walked past me on the way out and ran her hand across mine as she passed. She didn’t look back.
I watched her as she left, and when I turned back to Celia, she had gone. I heard the bedroom door slam.

Lottie, is a real person. She appears through many of my books, adding a little spice to the chapters. She is, in fact, an interior decorator with her own business. Lottie and Louis have known each other for fifteen years, and have always had a on-demand, relationship, in my books. In this book, some of Lottie’s deep feelings surface.

Pg 91

I grabbed the remote and turned off the TV.
“Lottie.”
“Oh, here it comes, the ‘Dear Jane’ letter!” She smiled at me. “You are too dramatic with this sort of thing. Let me help you out! You have met your soul mate, Celia, and have plans of making a future together with her. You are probably going to eventually get married, and as much as you just love fuckin’ me, I’m not wife material.” She got very serious and looked deep into my eyes for a response.
I sat in shock, staring back.

“Okay! It looks like I nailed it.”

In the real world, Lottie has hired me several times to do custom cabinetry in the multi-million dollar estates that she decorates. She usually moves into the home that she is decorating, while an owner is out of the country. She answers the door barefoot, in a dress shirt from the owners closet, and makes me an expensive coffee while she wakes up. As I work, she goes for supplies in a pair of Daisy-Dukes, a tank top shirt, and a jacked up 4WD pickup. She’s as wild in reality as she is in my writing.
